Many excellent operators start their own business with only two clear goals in mind; to no longer work for the boss they currently have, and to earn more money for themselves. A few years in, those goals remain, still unspecified, unclear and often generic.

Discussing, debating and setting tangible goals is imperative to ensuring the right levers are pulled, the right measurements are in place and the right focus is shared with the team. Many small and medium sized businesses don’t have clearly stated goals and consequently have a workforce that is unsure what the primary objective is.
